Producer/Writer/Director - Alex Epstein

A Native New Yorker and a New Canadian, Alex Epstein is a writer for movies and television, as well as an emerging director.

ROLE PLAY is the fourth short film he has directed for Bravo!FACT. His first, TWELVE WAYS TO SAY I'M SORRY, aired on the Sundance Channel, Movie Central, and Air Canada, and screened at Just for Laughs and Whistler. His second, YOU ARE SO UNDEAD, screened at the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival and more than 20 genre festivals including Fantasia, Sitges, and Screamfest; it has over 200,000 hits on Bravo!FACT's YouTube channel. His third short, THE GRILLED CHEESE TRILOGY, premiered at the Rendezvous du Cinéma Québecois in February 2013. Alex also directed a dramatic short for the Elgin & Winter Garden Theaters in Spring 2013.

Alex was nominated for a Jutra for co-writing BON COP / BAD COP, which won the Genie for Best Picture. He also co-created the TV series NAKED JOSH for Showcase and Oxygen; it ran three seasons and was nominated for a Gemini. Alex was nominated for two WGC Awards for his work on the show.

His screenwriting books, CRAFTY SCREENWRITING (Holt, 2002), and CRAFTY TV WRITING (Holt, 2006), have sold over 25,000 copies. His historical fantasy novel, THE CIRCLE CAST: THE LOST YEARS OF MORGAN LE FAY (Tradewind, 2010) was shortlisted for a Quebec Writer's Federation Award.

A graduate of Yale with an MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television, Alex lives in Montréal's Old Port with his wife, author and screenwriter Lisa Hunter, and daughter.
